I’ve gone through more yoga mats than I’d like to admit, mostly because my cat seems to think they’re personal scratching posts. But this Amazon Basics Extra Thick Exercise Yoga Mat has easily become my favorite so far.
The ½-inch thickness is incredibly comfortable. It has just the right amount of cushioning, especially for poses that put pressure on the knees. Honestly, it’s so comfy that sometimes I just end up lying on it for a while because it feels better than the cold floor.
The length is perfect for me (I’m 5’6″). I can fully stretch out without my hands or feet hanging off the edge, which is something I’ve run into with other mats.
What really stands out, though, is the ridge texture on the surface. I love the added grip and the way the texture helps keep my fingers and toes aligned during poses. It gives a little extra stability without feeling rough.
Overall, it’s a great mat and easily one of the best I’ve used. And when my cats inevitably decide it belongs to them, I’ll definitely be buying another one.
