DEWALT 7-1/4 inch Circular Corded Saw

I’ve had this saw in my shop for close to two years now, so I feel like I can finally give a proper, long-term opinion instead of the usual “just unboxed it and it’s amazing” type review.

Most of the time, I use it to break down full sheets before moving over to the table saw. If you’ve wrestled a 4×8 sheet of 3/4″ plywood by yourself, you know why this matters. With a Freud D0760X blade installed, it slices through 3/4″ marine ply and birch plywood without hesitation. Clean cuts, no bogging down, and no drama. It just does the job.

But what really surprised me—and the main reason I’m coming back to write this—is how well it handles thicker hardwood. I regularly buy rough 9/4 lumber straight from the mill and use this saw to rip a clean straight edge before jointing. With a 24T Irwin Marathon blade, it powers through cherry, maple, and walnut almost as easily as my 3HP cabinet table saw. That honestly caught me off guard. You don’t expect a saw in this class to perform like that, but here we are.

Power-wise, it feels strong and confident. The weight is manageable without feeling flimsy. Build quality has held up well over time—no weird vibrations, no alignment issues, nothing that’s made me regret the purchase.

The only real downside? The price. It’s gone up more than 30% since I bought mine back in December 2017, and that’s not a small bump. If I were buying today, I’d definitely notice that. Still, based on performance alone, I’d buy it again for the kind of work I do.

If you’re mainly breaking down sheet goods and occasionally ripping thicker hardwood before final milling, this saw absolutely earns its keep. I’ve been very happy with it.
